About Ethical Tiny Homes

 Growing up in Vancouver, an expensive metropolitan city I was faced with the same challenges that face many people today. With an exceptionally high cost of living,  paying unaffordable rent was a constant struggle. After a trip to Barcelona I saw how the lack of affordable housing resulted in many people turning to hostels and communal living. I knew Vancouver was soon to follow, so I saved up and rented a 10 bedroom house. It was a big risk but I furnished it as 5 rentals to newcomers and travelers. I was able to give myself a secure home for the first time in my life. I know the value of a roof over your head so I made my first tiny home as a way to increase the housing supply in our community.

I have always loved to make art and create something people love, and building tiny homes is a creative process. As an artist, I have sold hundreds of paintings and designed and painted many of the large murals you may have seen throughout Vancouver. I love to express myself creatively in many ways, and carpentry is an extension of that. I find it a never ending artistic challenge to become a better woodworker. Learning from my mistakes and pushing forward researching and reading about safer building practices always curious about framing, insulation, electrical, plumbing, water management, building for different weather, solar energy, compost toilets, water filtration, climate control, building envelope, drywall, cabinets, doors, windows, tile, flooring, trim boards and finishing.

As people realize the freedom a tiny home can provide, the interest in 'building tiny' has grown. So I have linked up with talented people to create our company: Ethical Tiny Homes. As a small but growing company we provide custom built tiny homes for a fair price. The company name really does hold us to a high standard of building and ethics. Our goal is to impact people's lives and give back to the community in a big way! You never know where things will go next so set big goals and never give up.
